Dr. Windhorst is a graduate from Kansas State University with a degree in Biology/Leadership Studies. She received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She has had experience in primary care, contact lenses, ocular disease, and post-operative care. Dr. Windhorst is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric as well as the Kansas State Alumni Association. When she is not working, Dr. Windhorst loves spending time with her family. She and her husband, Aaron, love to attend Kansas State events together, complete home improvement projects and spend at much time outdoors as they can with their 2 English Creams golden retrievers and son, William.
Erin Hamilton, OD
Dr. Hamilton graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Nutritional Sciences. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri St. Louis. Dr. Hamilton and her husband moved back to Kansas in 2007, wanting to be closer to family. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Kansas Optometric Association, and Optometric Society of Greater Kansas City. She particularly enjoys working with children, fitting multifocal contact lenses, and managing ocular disease. While not at work, Dr. Hamilton spends time with family, including her young daughter and son, and loves to cook and travel. She is still passionate about nutrition and the way that food can change your health for the better.
Nathan Kluttz, OD
Dr. Kluttz is a native Kansan and a graduate of both Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Oklahoma College of Optometry at Northeastern State University. His clinical training was done in various hospitals and clinics of the Cherokee Nation. Dr. Kluttz completed his externship at the Jack C. Montgomery VA hospital in Muskogee, OK. His research has been featured on the cover of the Journal of Vision Research. He especially enjoys taking care of pediatric patients, managing all types of Contact Lens fittings, and the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. When not at the office, Dr. Kluttz enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling, reading, and staying physically active.
Scott McClain, OD
Dr. McClain is a native of Horton, Kansas, and attended Wichita State University before graduating from Kansas State University in 1990. He graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1994. Dr. McClain has special interest in laser surgery co-management and treatment of diseases of the eye. He has demonstrated leadership and expertise in corneal molding and glaucoma treatment. Dr. McClain completed externships at Bellaire Eye Associates and Houston Eye Associates in Houston, TX before returning to his home state of Kansas.He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association. He joined The EyeDoctors in 1994.
Ryan Emrick, OD
Dr. Emrick practices full scope optometry. His particular interests lie in the fields of ocular disease and wellness, children’s eye care and contact lens management. Dr. Emrick grew up in Moore, Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. Before joining the Emporia practice in 2010, Dr. Emrick completed externships at various hospitals and clinics of the Cherokee nation. He is married and has a young son.
Sam Odle, OD
Dr. Odle has special interest in contact lens management. He has additional interest in sports vision and treatment for dry eyes. He joined The EyeDoctors in 1983. Dr. Odle is a 1983 graduate of the University of Alabama College of Optometry in Birmingham, Alabama. He has also received a degree in Physiological Optics from the University of Alabama. Dr. Odle is certified by Kansas licensure in ocular treatment of eye infections, removal of ocular foreign objects, and diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Dr. Odle has additional training in the fitting of custom contact lenses and in pre- and post-operative care in laser vision correction.
Brian Horsch, OD
Dr. Brian Horsch, President and Chief Executive Officer of The EyeDoctors and Peoples Optical since 2001, is a graduate of Kansas State University and the University of Houston College of Optometry. Since joining The EyeDoctors in 1986, Dr. Horsch has been instrumental in starting and acquiring practices across Northeast Kansas. His office is located in the administrative offices of The Eye Doctors in Topeka, Kansas. He has practiced optometry in Manhattan, Topeka and Lawrence. He is a native of Colwich, Kansas and is married with two adult children and enjoys making and firing ceramics in his spare time.
Richard Schroeder, OD
Dr. Schroeder graduated from Kansas State University in 1986. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1990. After completing a public health service internship at Native American Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Schroeder moved to Manhattan to begin his practice with The EyeDoctors. He has special interest in general optometry and Accelerated Orthokeratology. Dr. Schoeder is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.
Angela Truelove, OD
Dr. Truelove practices primary care optometry, with an emphasis in contact lenses and pediatrics. Dr. Truelove is originally from Illinois. She received her undergraduate education at Southern Illinois University. She received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
John Harvat, OD
Dr. Harvat practices full scope optometry and enjoys caring for patients of all ages. His particular interests include staying up-to-date with the latest research, technologies, and treatment options of optometric care. Dr. Harvat graduated from Indiana University in 1998 as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an international honors fraternity. He finished his externship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Hospital in Miami, FL. After graduation, Dr. Harvat completed a 1 year residency program at the Kansas City VA, specializing in ocular disease diagnosis and management. He worked for 2 years at the Health View Eye Clinic in Wisconsin before joining The EyeDoctors in 2001. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association. Dr. Harvat is married and has 3 children.
Edwin Rodriguez, OD
Dr. Rodriguez has a special interest in the areas of Corneal Refractive Therapy and Pediatric optometry. The Olathe office where he practices is a state-of-the-art computerized office providing high tech eyecare. Dr. Rodriguez graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1994. After completing a public health service internship at the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Rodriguez moved to the Kansas City area. He joined The EyeDoctors in 2003. Dr. Rodriguez is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.
Bridgette Ostmeyer, OD
Dr. Ostmeyer has a special interest in Laser vision correction co-management. She also enjoys challenges presented by eye disease management, pediatrics, contact lenses and primary care in general. Dr. Ostmeyer graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1992 with a bachelors in chemistry. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri- St. Louis College of Optometry in 1996. She practiced at the Grene Vision Group for 2 years specializing in laser vision correction. Then she moved to Great Bend Kansas for 6 years where she specialized in primary care. She joined The EyeDoctors in October of 2004 at the North Topeka location. Curent memberships include the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.
Kyle Bechtold, OD
Dr. Dr. Bechtold practices in all areas of optometric care including contact lenses and pediatrics. He joined The EyeDoctors in 2006. Dr. Bechtold is a native of Horton, KS. He obtained his undergraduate education from Kansas State University and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in 2006. He is married and has two children.
Kristine Fletcher, OD
Dr. Fletcher practices full scope optometry and is skilled at working with all ages. Dr. Fletcher is from Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1992 after completing externships at Indian Health Services in Shiprock, New Mexico and Irwin Army Hospital at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Brian Carpenter, OD
Dr. Carpenter’s knowledge of his patient’s needs is complemented by his extensive training in providing comprehensive eye health evaluations. He also has a background in optics which helps him prescribe the best vision corrections possible. Dr. Carpenter is a Kansas native and graduated from Kansas State University . He then received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007 from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry. He is married with three children. Dr. Carpenter joined The EyeDoctors in 2009.
Sally Irwin, OD
Dr. Irwin practices full-scope optometry for patients of all ages, working with them to achieve the best possible vision and comfort. She has a particular interest in geriatric care and managing eye health issues common to the elderly, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and eye dryness. At Kansas State University, Dr. Irwin obtained degrees in Life Science and Modern Languages. She then traveled to Saint Louis to complete her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Missouri – Saint Louis. Dr. Irwin completed ocular disease internships at the ODonnell Eye Institute in Saint Louis and at the Wichita VA Hospital. She was in private general practice in Kansas prior to joining The EyeDoctors in 2010.
Angela MacDonald, OD
Dr. MacDonald believes that the eyes are a window to a person’s overall health. By looking inside the eyes she is able to view blood vessels that may give clues to other health issues such as high blood pressure and diabetes. She loves to work with her patients to determine the best possible solution to achieve the clearest vision possible whether it is with glasses, contacts or medical treatment. At Missouri State University, Dr. MacDonald obtained Degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology and Chemistry. She then traveled to Saint Louis to complete her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 2007. She practiced medical optometry in St. Louis until joining The EyeDoctors in 2010. She is an active member of the Louisburg Rotary, the Paola Chamber of Commerce and she enjoys using her free time to serve the community and spend time with her family.
Jayme Brown, OD
Dr. Brown practices full-scope optometry, including contact lenses and the management of ocular disease such as glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. She has a special interest in pediatrics and vision therapy. Dr. Brown is skilled at providing eye care for infants and children as well as for patients with special needs and brain injuries. Dr. Brown is originally from Ottawa, KS. She earned her undergraduate degree in Neural Science from New York University, where she also did research in visual development. She then moved to Ohio to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University. Dr. Brown completed her clinical rotations at the Dayton VA Medical Center and a pediatric and vision therapy practice. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Brown enjoys photography and spending time outdoors with her husband Derek. They love hiking, backpacking and cycling.
Jessica Putnam, OD
Dr. Jessica K. Putnam practices general optometry. She is interested in caring for patients’ eyes in whatever stage of life they may be in from pediatrics up to geriatrics. She takes a special interest in the treatment of allergies and dry eye. Dr. Putnam is a graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. While at Southern College of Optometry, she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an international Optometric honor fraternity, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her experience includes spending a semester externship at the Robert Dole VA Hospital in Wichita, Kansas where she received training in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Putnam is married and has one dog named Hadley. She enjoys exercising and cooking in her free time.
